SD TIMES HONORED FOR GENERAL EXCELLENCE
The software development industry’s newspaper “continues to raise the editorial bar”

Oyster Bay, N.Y., October 10, 2001 - BZ Media's SD Times, the
newspaper of record for software development managers, was recognized for
General Excellence in the Fall/Winter 2001 edition of min magazine, a
leading trade publication for the magazine industry.
The Fall/Winter 2001 edition, which was dedicated to covering the top
magazines in America, recognized SD Times, along with Smithsonian and
Marie Claire, with an Honorable Mention in the category of General
Excellence. The two winners in the General Excellence category were
McGraw-Hill's BusinessWeek and CMP Media's InformationWeek.
In their description of SD Times, the editors of min magazine wrote,
"This pub continues to raise the editorial bar, and even as the
developer/tech category headed south, SD Times garnered an impressive
130.54% YTD up-tick." According to the story, the category's total ad
pages through July 2001 declined 3.80% year-to-date compared to 2000
levels.
"We are delighted with min magazine's recognition of our hard work
and editorial values," said Alan Zeichick, editor-in-chief of SD
Times. "As the newspaper of record for the software development
industry, we take our responsibilities to the community very seriously. To
think that a new publication like ours can be listed alongside such
established and successful titles as Smithsonian and Marie Claire, and to
be compared to BusinessWeek and InformationWeek, validates how well we're
serving our readers."
SD Times was launched by BZ Media in February 2000, and serves an
audience of more than 40,000 software development managers with each
issue.
"We would like to thank min magazine for this honor," said
Ted Bahr, publisher of SD Times. "As the only tabloid-format news
publication recognized in the General Excellence category, we appreciate
that they would look outside the standard magazine format, and beyond the
large media giants, to find editorial excellence in our newspaper."
min magazine is published twice per year by PBI Media, a subsidiary of
Veronis Suhler and Associates, as a supplement to min's Media Industry
Newsletter, a weekly report that has tracked the business of trade and
consumer publishing since 1947.
