FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SD TIMES BRINGS HANDS-ON KNOWLEDGE TO XML-BASED WEB
SERVICES
Web Services Development Conference,
scheduled for October 2002, teaches developers and managers how to deploy
Web services using today’s tools and specifications

Oyster Bay, N.Y., July 16, 2002 - With the
release of Microsoft Corp.'s .NET platform, and of Sun Microsystems Inc.'s
Web Services Development Pack, XML-based Web services are the most
promising software development technology today. To help enterprise
developers and development managers, BZ Media LLC's SD Times is launching
the Web Services
Development Conference this fall in New York City.
The Web Services Development Conference will be held in conjunction
with Penton Media Inc.'s Internet
World Fall 2002 conference and expo on October 1-2 at the Jacob K.
Javits Convention Center.
The WSDC will be a practical two-day technical seminar designed to give
software developers, managers and architects a practical working knowledge
of what it takes to build applications using Web services today.
Chaired by Alan Zeichick, co-founder and editor-in-chief of SD Times,
the conference will provide attendees with nuts-and-bolts information on
such topics as the mechanics of Web services, how to make Web services
scalable and secure, and how to bridge the standards gap by linking
incompatible Web services. The conference will also teach how to build and
deploy Web services on .NET and Java/J2EE, perform enterprise application
integration using Web services, and choose tools and frameworks for
building and deploying Web services.
"The development community has been exposed to considerable hype
regarding XML-based Web services," noted Mr. Zeichick, "and it's
time to move beyond that. Development managers already know the benefits
of Web services to their organizations. What they need is the practical
knowledge on how to Web services-enable existing applications and build
new apps to those specs. And that's what developers will learn at the Web
Services Development Conference, thanks to our carefully planned sessions
and expert faculty."
