Former InfoWorld reporter enhances BZ Media's newsroom; renowned software architect returns as twice-monthly columnist

Oyster Bay, N.Y., March 10, 2003 - BZ Media's SD Times, the newspaper for the software development industry, today announced that Yvonne Lee, a well-known technology journalist and editor, has joined the company as full-time associate editor/reporter, and that Larry O'Brien has returned to SD Times as Windows & .NET Watch columnist.

Lee, a technology reporter since 1989, was a senior writer and reporter for IDG's InfoWorld for seven years. She later became senior editor of CMP's Web Techniques, and editor of its affiliated DesignShops.com online publication.

Most recently, she served as managing editor at Staffing Industry Analysts Inc., a publisher based in Los Altos, Calif.

Alan Zeichick, editor-in-chief of SD Times, said, "We are delighted to welcome Yvonne to the SD Times team. Her experience as a technology reporter, and her hands-on experience with software development, will help the newspaper continue to improve the quality of its news coverage, as well as provide a new perspective on the events in our fast-changing industry."

Yvonne Lee is based in Sunnyvale, Calif., and covers companies in the western United States and other regions.

A member of the Society of Professional Journalists, and the American Society of Business and Professional Editors, Lee has a Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers University, and a Master of Arts in communication from Stanford University.

Separately, Larry O'Brien has rejoined SD Times as writer of Windows & .NET Watch, a twice-monthly column devoted to Microsoft technologies.

A respected technologist and software architect, O'Brien is a frequent speaker at industry events, and was founding editor of CMP's Software Development Magazine. He is the author of the forthcoming "Thinking in C#" (Prentice Hall).

O'Brien's Windows & .NET Watch column debuts in the March 15, 2003 issue of SD Times. Previously, he wrote the newspaper's Web Watch column from September 2000 through July 2001.

SD Times' Zeichick said, "Larry O'Brien is one of the top experts in the software development community. With his deep background in software architecture and design, and expertise in both Java and Windows technologies, Larry is a foremost authority on the vital issues facing .NET developers and managers today."
