SD Times CIRCULATION BREAKS 50,000,
DEMONSTRATES MOMENTUM
Average qualified circulation grew by more than 25 percent over past 18 months, one-year average qualified circulation increased to 100 percent

Oyster Bay, N.Y., December 11, 2003 - BZ Media LLC's SD Times, the newspaper of record for the software development industry, continued demonstrating circulation momentum with the release of its June 2003 BPA Circulation Statement.
The statement, which covers the six-month period ending June 2003, showed that the average total qualified circulation of SD Times was 51,443 subscribers. That compares to an average total qualified circulation of 41,127 as of the December 2001 BPA Circulation Statement -- an increase of 25.1 percent during the 18-month period. BPA International is a not-for-profit organization that audits circulation data for the media industry.
Ted Bahr, president of BZ Media and publisher of SD Times, said, "This is a substantial increase in the circulation of SD Times. The gains are even more impressive when you consider the state of the economy over the past several years, and its particularly devastating effects on the technology and publishing sectors. While many technology publications have been folding, diluting their circulation with unrequested copies or simply deciding not to allow independent auditing of their subscribership, SD TIMES increased its circulation, further cementing its position as the newspaper of record for the software development industry."
The June 2003 BPA Circulation Statement also showed that one hundred percent of SD Times qualified subscribers that requested a new subscription, or that renewed their subscription, are "one-year qualified" -- that is, have done so during the 12 months prior to the audit date. By contrast, in the December 2001 BPA Circulation Statement the "one-year qualified" circulation figure was 88.8 percent; the remaining subscribers were "two-year qualified."
Bahr said, "This increase in SD Times circulation quality represents a considerable investment by BZ Media during the past year, as we maximize the value of our publication's highly targeted audience to advertisers. Despite the deep recession, BZ Media has demonstrated that it is willing and able to make these investments."
Bahr continued, "Many competitors, especially publicly held companies and private companies reeling under massive debt loads, have let the quality and quantity of their circulation fall during the past two years. Advertisers recognize the value of a targeted, high-quality circulation, as well as that of a solid editorial product, because SD Times' ad-page market share has also increased substantially during the recession.”
