SD TIMES RAISES CIRCULATION
RATE BASE FOR 2005
Software development industry newspaper also adds new regional sales manager, BZ Media expands corporate headquarters

Huntington, N.Y., November 1, 2004 - BZ Media LLC today announced that SD Times, the newspaper of record for the software development industry, will raise its rate base to 55,000 for 2005.
SD Times continues to gather momentum with readers and will increase its rate base from 50,000 to 55,000 in 2005. One of the few publications to actually increase circulation during the recession, SD Times' circulation rate base has grown 29% since 2001.
The twice-monthly newspaper also continues gaining appeal in the advertiser community, according to ad pages tracked by AdScope (now CMR). Through August 2004, SD Times is now the second-largest ranked developer/technical publication, having surpassed CMP Media's Dr. Dobb's Journal this year, and is continuing to rise toward the top of the category.
Bahr said, "The broad appeal of SD Times, and its reach to influential software development managers, continues propelling the publication forward. Unlike specialty publications which are focused on specific technologies, SD Times is relevant for software development managers in every large enterprise, and will only become more so as integration becomes central to an organization's software-development strategy."
To better enable its publications to manage its growth, the BZ Media has realigned the sales teams of SD Times and Software Test & Performance, a 2004 launch going monthly in 2005.
David Karp, formerly the Northeast/Central Sales Manager on the combined publication sales team, will head up the dedicated effort on Software Test & Performance as Sales Manager. He will be replaced on SD Times by Charles Shively, an 18-year software development industry veteran. Shively was formerly Associate Publisher of CMP's Dr. Dobb's Journal and Publisher of 101communications' Application Development Trends. He will manage the Northeast/Central territory.
Bahr said, "We're seeing strong indications for advertising growth in SD Times and Software Test & Performance, and having separate sales teams will allow us to better serve the industry. We're delighted to welcome Charles Shively, one of the most respected and experienced sales managers in the software-development market, to BZ Media and SD Times."
Another sign of BZ Media's growth is reflected in BZ Media LLC's relocation to larger offices in Huntington, N.Y., in early October. The new office space consolidated two smaller locations in Oyster Bay, N.Y., and provides additional space for new hires in 2005.
