Software Security Summit
Goes East
S-3 East 2006, scheduled for June 5-7 in Baltimore,
builds on successful San Diego conference in February

Huntington, N.Y., March 21, 2006—BZ Media
LLC today announced today that registration is open for
Software Security
Summit™ East 2006, the first S-3 event held on the East Coast. The
conference, which will take place in Baltimore, Md., from June 5-7,
2006, follows the strong growth experienced by the second annual West
Coast event, held in San Diego in February.
The San Diego conference, held at the Hyatt Regency La
Jolla, attracted more than 250 attendees, up 40 percent over the debut
conference held 10 months earlier. The number of exhibiting companies
doubled to 14, led by Fortify Software as the Diamond Sponsor, and Platinum
Sponsors Kenai Systems and Secure Software. Keynote addresses at S-3 West
2006 were presented by Gary McGraw, CTO of Cigital and author of “Secure
Software: Building Security In,” and Peter Coffee, Technology Editor and
“Enterprise IT Advantage” columnist for Ziff-Davis Internet’s eWEEK
newsweekly.
Alan Zeichick, Conference Chairman, said, “The message
behind the Software Security Summit is getting through! Enterprise IT staff
are learning that they can’t trust networking technologies, like firewalls,
intrusion detection/prevention systems and anti-virus tools, to protect
their essential corporate software assets. Software security must be baked
into client/server and Web applications through solid architectures, secure
coding practices and rigorous testing and quality assurance."
Zeichick continued, "The Software Security Summit teaches
how to write secure software, and how to secure the software that you
already own. Software development managers, programmers and testers are
understanding that essential message: Security belongs in the application,
not just on the network. That’s why more people came to S-3 West in San
Diego in 2006, and that’s why we’re bringing S-3 East to Baltimore.”
Attendance for S-3 East in Baltimore is expected to be
350, a significant increase over S-3 West, reflecting not only the growing
industry awareness of software security issues, but also the pent-up demand
for this event from the federal government and the East Coast financial
industry in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
Donna Esposito, Director of Events for BZ Media, said,
“Many attendees and sponsors, as well as software professionals who couldn’t
make it to the San Diego conference, have been asking us to expand the
Software Security Summit to the East Coast. The Hyatt Regency Baltimore is
the perfect venue for S-3 East 2006, offering convenient access by air and
train, solid classroom facilities, and space for an expanded exhibit hall.”
Industry leaders have already started signing up to
sponsor S-3 East 2006, including Fortify Software, which has renewed its
Diamond Sponsorship; and Secure Software, which returns with a Platinum
Sponsorship. Additional sponsorships will be announced closer to the
conference debut. With more than 40 classes—19 of which are new for the East
Coast conference—the Software Security Summit East 2006 is expected to
continue the solid growth of this important industry event.
Conference registration is now open, with eXtreme Early
Bird discount rates available through March 31, 2006, offering $450 off the
three-day Full Event Conference Passport of $1,395. Registration is online
