FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Software Security Summit Goes To Silicon Valley
Huntington, N.Y., August 30, 2006 — BZ Media LLC today announced that the 4th Software Security Summit™ will be held in San Mateo, Calif., in April 2007 — the first of the popular conferences to be located in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The Software Security Summit is the first and only technical conference focused on security at the applications level. Attendees learn how to write more secure software, test their software for security vulnerabilities, and improve the security of the software their organization already uses.
Alan Zeichick, conference chairman of the 4th Software Security Summit, said, “Enterprise applications are under attack every day. Firewalls and intrusion protection systems might protect the network, but they don’t do anything to protect Web sites, client/server software and other applications from SQL Injection attacks, buffer overflows and other real-world vulnerabilities. Given the high cost of software crashes and data theft, every organization should send its development team to the 4th Software Security Summit.”
The 4th Software Security Summit will be held April 16–17, 2007, in San Mateo, only minutes from San Francisco International Airport and Silicon Valley. New at this year’s conference is a special track for senior software developers and IT management, helping them learn how to architect security into their application life cycle, from design to development to deployment.
Zeichick said, “Software security can’t be left to your test/QA department. Any organization serious about security — and that includes companies regulated by Sarbanes-Oxley or HIPAA — should institute both top-down and bottom-up approaches toward vulnerability assessment, improved software architectures and secure coding practices, as well as database design and application testing.
The 4th Software Security Summit provides an integrated curriculum, with the industry’s best faculty, to help organizations learn how to secure their software in more than 30 tutorials, general sessions and in-depth classes.” Attendees at the 4th Software Security Summit can view real-world solutions at the Demonstration Hall, a new feature of the conference. They can also network with their peers and security experts throughout the event, and at its famous Ice Cream Social and Demonstration Hall Reception.
The Diamond Sponsor of the 4th Software Security Summit is Fortify Software. Event sponsors in 2006 included Fortify Software, Secure Software, Aspect Security, Kenai Systems, Parasoft, Ounce Labs and Validian Security Systems.
