"Spotlight on Eclipse 2007"
Highlights Growing Ecosystems for Tools, Plug-Ins

Special March 1 supplement to SD Times to be distributed to more than 60,000 senior IT professionals in more than 120 countries.

Huntington, N.Y., and Ottawa, Ont., January 4, 2007 — BZ Media LLC and The Eclipse Foundation today announced “Spotlight on Eclipse™ 2007,” a special supplement to BZ Media’s SD Times, the newspaper of record for the software development industry. “Spotlight on Eclipse 2007” highlights the growing momentum surrounding Eclipse, the open-source tools platform.

“Spotlight on Eclipse 2007,” as a printed and digital publication, will be distributed to more than 60,000 senior IT professionals, including software development managers, software architects and projects managers in more than 120 countries. It will be bundled and mailed with the March 1, 2007, print and digital editions of SD Times. It can also be downloaded from www.sdtimes.com, and through a link from www.eclipse.org, the Web site of the Eclipse Foundation.

The “Spotlight on Eclipse 2007” supplement will open with introductions from Mike Milinkovich, Executive Director of the Eclipse Foundation, and from Alan Zeichick, Editorial Director of BZ Media LLC. It will also include a feature article describing the results of BZ Research’s latest studies into Eclipse adoption within the enterprise.

Alan Zeichick, Editorial Director of BZ Media LLC, said, “According to BZ Research, two thirds of all enterprise developers are now using Eclipse. However, many of those development teams are just scratching the surface of what the Eclipse Platform offers. ‘Spotlight on Eclipse 2007’ identifies many of the leading tools, plug-ins and solutions that leverage Eclipse, and which add new features to the core platform. As with our previous ‘Spotlight on Eclipse’ supplements, we know that development teams will benefit from learning about the newest solutions.”

Mike Milinkovich, Executive Director of the Eclipse Foundation, said, “The Eclipse Foundation is delighted to be working with BZ Media on this special supplement to SD Times. BZ Media has been a staunch supporter of Eclipse, through SD Times, its EclipseSource newsletter, and the Eclipse World Conference & Exhibition.

In addition to the Eclipse Foundation, 33 independent companies participated in SD Times’ first two “Spotlight on Eclipse” supplements, published in 2004 and 2005, including IBM, Sybase, Intel, Hewlett-Packard, Altova, SAP, Parasoft, Mentor Graphics and Wind River.

"Spotlight on Eclipse 2007” will also be distributed at EclipseCon, March 5-8, 2007, at the Santa Clara Convention Center.

Eclipse Review, a quarterly magazine published in 2006 by BZ Media, will be folded into “Spotlight on Eclipse 2007.” The deadline for participating in “Spotlight on Eclipse 2007” is January 18; for details, see www.bzmedia.com/spotlight2007

BZ Media, an Associate Member of the Eclipse Foundation, publishes SD Times and Software Test & Performance magazine, and produces the Eclipse World Conference & Exhibition, Nov. 6-8, 2007 in Reston, Va.
