Huntington, N.Y., June 8, 2009 — BZ Media LLC today announced that the 2009 SD Times 100 will be pre-announced on Twitter – for the first time ever, offering the industry-leading newspaper’s “followers” early notice of the eagerly awaited industry awards.

The SD Times 100, published annually since 2003, recognizes the companies, organizations and individuals that most broadly "set the agenda" for software development managers, developers, and the industry through leadership and innovation during the past calendar year. In 2009, it will be published in the June 15, 2009, issue of BZ Media’s SD Times, the award-winning industry newspaper for software development managers, and will appear on the SDTimes.com website.

This year, the editors of SD Times are breaking new ground in social networking by providing an advance listing of the winners on Twitter. The “tweets” will appear from the newspaper’s Twitter account, sdtimes.

Alan Zeichick, editorial director of SD Times 100, explained, “Twitter is one of the most significant new-media tools in our toolbox. Since we set up our sdtimes account, SD Times readers have begun following our editors’ tweets to learn the latest news in the software development industry. By tweeting the SD Times 100 award winners in advance, we’re providing our followers with exactly what they’re looking for: what’s happening, and what it means.”

The tweets will begin at 11:00 AM Eastern time (8:00 AM Pacific time) on Thursday, June 11 — four full days before the 2009 SD Times 100 appears in the SD Times newspaper and is published on the SDTimes.com website.

The 2009 SD Times 100 tweets will take place one category at a time, spaced out approximately every 30 minutes:

11:00 AM Eastern / 8:00 AM Pacific: Application Life-Cycle Management
